If you haven’t heard the big news, Cristiano Ronaldo wants to leave Real Madrid. The Portugal international wants to leave Spain as he was accused of tax fraud by Spanish authorities and wasn’t happy by the way he was treated. The big question is if he were to leave Real Madrid, where would he go? Here are the most probable options:
China: China has become infamous in the past year for spending obscure amounts of money to bring in football players from around the world. Chinese clubs would have no problem spending the big bucks to purchase Ronaldo and Ronaldo would without a doubt be the highest paid soccer player ever if he did choose to move to Asia.
The quality of football in China just isn’t quite there yet, and Ronaldo wants to play to win, not to make money. Ronaldo could possibly play there a year or two before he retires, but for now, Ronaldo wants to win the Champions League, not the Chinese League.
Paris Saint-Germain: Paris Saint-Germain has become a great team in the past few years and would definitely have the money to pull this off. They would be Champions League favorites if Ronaldo were to join the likes of Thiago Silva and Edinson Cavani.
Ligue 1 seems like a 2-team league with Monaco and PSG being the only real contenders each year and if PSG were to add arguably the best player in the world in Cristiano Ronaldo, it would be a 1-team league. This may not be enough competition for Ronaldo to want to take part in.
Manchester City: The Arabian oil gods could easily spend the money and win their first ever Champions League trophy if they were to add Cristiano Ronaldo to their already loaded force of attackers. This could be a destination for Ronaldo as he could enjoy great success and return to Manchester, where he used to live.
Manchester United: This is the most likely destination for Ronaldo if he were to leave. Ronaldo loved his time at United and used to love living in Manchester. United easily has the money to re-buy Ronaldo.
Joining Paul Pogba, David De Gea and multiple other superstars, this team would win multiple championships and bring the Champions League back to England. Ronaldo loved United and if he were to leave Real Madrid, he may head to Manchester United.
