Earlier today, the number 1 rated running back in the 2018 college football recruiting class, Zamir “Zeus” White, committed to Georgia. White is from Laurinburg, NC (Scotland High School) and is 6-foot-1 and 225 pounds.
The University of Georgia is known for producing star running backs which include Heisman winner, and Georgia Legend Herschel Walker, Garrison Hearst, Knowshon Moreno, 1942 Heisman Trophy winner Frank Sinkwich, Super Bowl 32 MVP Terrell Davis, Todd Gurley, and Current stars such as Nick Chubb and Sony Michel. Georgia is known as “Running Back University” (or RBU) and Zamir White looks promising to continue that legacy. The legacy of RBU shows in the video below.
White chose Georgia over schools such as Clemson, Alabama, Ohio State, and North Carolina. This is a huge sigh of relief for fans as the star duo of Chubb and Michel are entering their senior year and will surpass their eligibility.
White is a “rare breed” of talent that shows on the field. White was considered one of the few elite talents in this 2018 recruiting class.
White has several attributes that lead to his success such as his size, speed, power, agility, athleticism. Those attributes show in his stats for the 2016 season, he had 1,693 yards rushing and 26 TDs. Below are his highlights.
A huge burst of athleticism is shown around the 1:36 mark. In just his Freshman year, White gained 1,231 yards and scored 18 TDs. As a Sophomore, he gained 2,159 yards with 41 TDs (YES, you are reading that correctly!).
One of Coach Kirby Smart’s main goals after being hired last year was to bring in as much talent as he could. Recruiting wise, Coach Smart has done pretty well achieving this goal.
Zamir White will make his expected Bulldogs debut on September 1st, 2018. But for now, the Bulldog Faithful will have to wait until September 2nd, 2017 to see their Beloved Dawgs suit up and take on the Mountaineers of Appalachian State.
