Jody Amiet

French Guiana will enter its’ first appearance in the Gold Cup this upcoming year. That being said it’s first game will be against Canada.

After coming back from the Caribbean Cup in which it placed 3rd only to lose to Jamaica in penalty shoot-outs, French Guiana is finding moderate success. Their leading scorer is Sloan Privat with currently 6 international goals in only 3 international appearances as of June 25th. Their manager Jair Karan has stated that they, “We want to make it at least to the quarterfinals of the Gold Cup.” That’s high goals for their first appearance in the tournament.

Prediction: They have Canada, Costa Rica, and Honduras in their group stage. Therefore may come in second in their group stage and possibly make it all the way to the semi-finals lead by Slovan Privat only to lose to Jamaica possibly to a penalty shoot-out. Even though this is their first Gold Cup appearance you should not underestimate them even though the odds may be against them.
