Markelle Fultz was trying to block Golden State Warriors guard Jabari Brown when he fell badly on his ankle, during the Philadelphia 76ers 95-93 win over the Warriors on Saturday night. Fultz then left the game to get an MRI, as all Sixers fans held their breath.

The initial diagnosis on his injury was an ankle sprain. It could have been a catastrophic end to a very promising summer league.

With the teams prior history of injuries to rookies, it just built up the anxiety of the whole situation. Last year, Sixers rookie Ben Simmons had a very encouraging summer league, but got injured in preseason training camp, and missed his whole rookie season.

Fultz finished with 8 points and 3 rebounds. Throughout the first half Fultz was driving and being aggressive until he sprained his ankle early in the second half. On the same play as Fultz got injured, second-year player Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot also took a clock to the lip, and left the game. Luwawu-Cabarrot was faced with a tough challenge, in guarding Patrick McCaw, a guy who averaged 15 minutes per game for the Warriors this past season.

Even with Fultz getting injured a little after halftime, the Sixers still pulled through and won the game. The Warriors were leading 51-48 at the end of the first half, and the game stayed close for the rest of the contest. Then with 2 minutes left, the Warriors took a 93-88 lead. The Sixers followed by scoring seven straight points including a Larry Drew II step back jumper with seven seconds left to give the 76ers the lead. Patrick McCaw came down and shot a three-pointer with one second remaining, but missed and gave the Sixers the win.
