AC Milan made a shocking announcement yesterday declaring they have signed centre back Leonardo Bonucci from Juventus. The fee was reported to be 40M euros, an absolute bargain for a player his caliber.

AC Milan has already surpassed spending over $100M this transfer window on players such as Adrian Silva, Ricardo Rodriguez, Mateo Musacchio, Andrea Conti and Hakan Calhanoglu. This is largely due to AC Milan being taken over for $850M by Chinese owner Li Yonghong in April. Ever since then, Milan has been buzzing in the transfer window and them signing Boncucci only helps their cause.

One of the best defenders in the world in Bonucci moving to Milan is a very big deal. Not only he is going to one of Juventus’ most hated rivals but his fee was only 40M euros, an utter robbery for a player like Bonucci. The fact that Milan completely robbed Juventus is utterly insane.

Due to the transfer business in Italy, Serie A is going to be very exciting this season. With Juventus on the decline and Milan, AS Roma and Napoli on the rise, it looks like it will be a 3-4 man race for the Serie A title.

It will take time for the newly assembled Milan team to gel with so many changes, but once they click this team could be very dangerous.

Look at this projected lineup:

This team looks absolutely terrifying. That back 3 of Musacchio, Bonucci and with Gianluigi Donnarumma would be a very rock solid defense. The midfield is astonishing. They have Giacomo Bonaventura and Franck Kessie in the middle and Conti and Rodriguez on the wings.

To address the front three there is Suso and Calhanoglu who would be clinical as attacking midfielders to feed Silva the ball. And judging his performance with Porto in Liga NOS, it is guaranteed the young striker will bang in the goals.

Transfer Rating: A

This was an absolute steal for AC Milan. Not only do you get a world-class defender, you only had to pay $45M for Bonucci which is minimal.

If all of their pieces connect Milan will take one step closer to getting back to their glory days when they had Kaka, Andrea Pirlo, Paolo Maldini and Andriy Shevchenko. All eyes will be on the red side of Milan this season and it’s well deserved.
