Overview of 2018 Georgia Football Commits

The 2018 Georgia Bulldogs Recruiting Class is still taking shape here in mid-July. The Dawgs have eight current commits with their most recent commitment coming a couple days ago from 4-star tight end John Fitzpatrick. The Bulldogs still have their eyes on plenty of other top recruits for the 2018 class that have yet to commit to a school. It is still early, as these players senior season of high school hasn’t kicked off, but let’s go through an Early Edition of an Overview for all eight of UGA’s current commitments.

5🌟 RB Zamir White – Scotland HS (Laurinburg, NC)

Zamir White is the top rated running back in the nation. At 6’1″, 220 pounds, Zamir has a strong build and has the ability to be a force to be reckoned with in the SEC. Going into his senior season, White has already accumulated over 5,000 rushing yards and over 80 rushing touchdowns. Zamir committed to Georgia June 27th over Clemson and South Carolina. Look for Zamir to come in next year and challenge Elijah Holyfield and Brian Herrien for the starting job at running back as a True Freshman.

4🌟 OG Warren Ericson – North Gwinnett HS (Duluth, GA)

Warren Ericson is ranked the 15th best guard in the nation. He has good size at 6’4″, 290. He has a good chance to see action very early in his career at UGA with Georgia’s Offensive Line being so young and inexperienced. By the time Ericson steps on campus Lamont Gaillard will be a senior, and Dyshon Sims and Isaiah Wilson will have already graduated. He will certainly be called on and counted on to produce early.

4🌟 CB Chris Smith – Hapeville Charter HS (Atlanta, GA)

Chris Smith is ranked as the 31st best cornerback in the nation. He has decent size at around 5’11”, 170. Chris Smith will be another guy that will be asked to come in and will have an opportunity to get valuable playing time as a freshman. The only senior at CB will be Deandre Baker and all over the other cornerbacks will be underclassmen when Smith steps on campus at UGA in 2018.

4🌟 OT Owen Condon – Bishop McGuinness HS (Oklahoma City, OK)

Owen Condon is the 40th ranked offensive tackle in the country. He has great size at 6’7″, 300. Condon will come in as a freshman and compete with guys like Solomon Kindley (6’4″, 341), Ben Cleveland (6’6″, 340) and D’Marcus Hayes (6’5″, 315) among others for a starting role on the line.

4🌟 TE John FitzPatrick – Marist School (Atlanta, GA)

John FitzPatrick is the 34th ranked tight end in the nation. He is 6’6″, 230. FitzPatrick will battle with Charlie Woener and Isaac Nauta for the starting spot at TE when he comes in in 2018. He has great upside and could provide to be a vital role in UGA’s pro-style offense.

3🌟 DE Jaevon Becton – Ocean Lakes HS (Virginia Beach, VA)

Jaevon Becton is ranked as the 52nd best weak-side defensive end in the country. He is 6’4″, 230. Becton will have a shot a playing time early in his career as the Dawgs have a very young D-Line.

3🌟 CB / S Rachad Wildgoose Jr. – Northwestern HS (Miami, FL)

Rachad Wildgoose Jr. is ranked the 117th Safety in the nation. He’s 5’11”, 190. Rachad is a player that could be either a cornerback or safety for the Dawgs. At cornerback he would be competing against senior DeAndre Baker (5’11”, 180) and freshman Chris Smith (5’11”, 170). Cornerback and Saety are positions UGA is very young at and that will give Wildgoose a chance to compete as a possible freshman or sophomore for a role on UGA’s secondary.

2🌟 K / P Jake Camarda – Norcross HS (Norcross, GA)

Jake Camarda is the 8th ranked Kicker in the nation. He is 6’2″, 175. Jake will compete for the punting job against junior Marshall Long and will challenge redshirt-junior Rodrigo Blankenship for the kicking job.
