What Los Angeles Rams Proved To Us All
By: Zach Zaharias
Yesterday, the Los Angeles Rams destroyed the Indianapolis Colts of a score of 9-46 including 2 pick 6’s from the Rams defense, one from Trumaine Johnson and the other from LaMarcus Joyner. Even though Andrew Luck did not play this game, this game proved a lot for this young Los Angeles Rams team. I am going to explain a few reasons why this game was such a big deal for this team
This game proves that Jared Goff is not a bust and has big potential. Goff had a great game yesterday including a touchdown and 306 yards throwing the ball. One game does not define a player but Goff proved to all of us out there that he has potential and has real talent.
Todd Gurley has not been quite himself since his amazing year where he recorded record numbers in his rookie year including 1106 yards and 10 touchdowns running the ball. Gurley didn’t have the best game yesterday, but he had 96 scrimmage yards and a touchdown. I wouldn’t call it a comeback but Gurley might be showing us that he still has that 2015 side to him.
This young defense is what really won this game. This defense did not let the Colts score a single touchdown today and Scott Tolzien threw for 2 interceptions which both of them got returned for touchdowns. Outstanding playing by everyone on that defense including Michael Brockers who lead the team in tackles this game with 5 combined. Also they recorded a safety as well. This defense had a ton of question marks coming into the 2017-2018 season but the way they shot out of the gate and made an impact quickly is quite amazing.
Sean McVay had a lot to prove this game. He took this head coaching position being the youngest coach ever to coach an NFL game. Now he is the youngest NFL coach to win an NFL game. His team played an amazing game today putting up 46 points and really all around they played quite amazing. He shut up a lot of people that said he is too young to be a coach and he does not have what it takes. When you win by 37 in your home opener, that really proves a lot of what coach and team you are putting together.
With all these pros coming into this game you do have to keep in mind that Andrew Luck was not playing this game and the Colts are not a superstar team but they are not a terrible team however. This is also the first game of the season so I am not saying the Rams are going to be a playoff team but I am saying that all these young players worked really well together and if they keep doing what they are doing, they could be something huge in the long run.
