Blockbuster Trade: Melo To OKC

The Oklahoma City Thunder have acquired another superstar this year! Today, September 23,Carmelo Anthony was traded from the Knicks to the Thunder for Enes Kanter, Doug Mcdermott, and a 2018 second round pick.

This trade came just hours after Melo added the Thunder to the list of teams he would waive his no trade clause for. It is now official, the Knicks are in rebuild mode because Kanter and McDermott are still very young. This trade, like the Paul George trade, was a big surprise that came out of no where.

My opinion on this trade is that the Thunder robbed the Knciks. This is because they add a 10 time all star to an already great lineup which consisted of Russell Westbrook, Paul George, and Steven Adams. The Knicks, though, get a group of young guys to plan for the future and their lineup now consists of Kristaps Porzingis, Kanter, Mcdermott, and Frank Nitika who they drafted this year. The Thunder, in my opinion, have a roster that can now beat a super-team like the Warriors or the Spurs.

Now Carmelo is on the back nine of his career but that does not mean he is not capable of having big games and make another all-star game which he has done ten times in the past. Carmelo had a no trade clause and originally wanted to only go to the Houston Rockets but they could not agree on a deal, so the Knicks organization went to him and said add some more teams you would waive your no trade clause and one of those teams was the Thunder, so they jumped at the opportunity and landed him to give even more help for Westbrook who played great last year but needed the help!

The next question for the Thunder is will they be able to develop the team chemistry or will these trades all snowball in the upcoming season, because these guys have not played together before. Also, when will the New York Knicks get back to the NBA playoffs? Finally will Melo, George, and Westbrook get the ring that all NBA players dream of?
