Yesterday I was able to take a couple minutes and ask Buffalo Bills rookie OT Dion Dawkins a few questions. Here it is:
Q: What are your expectations for yourself this season?
A: My expectations for myself this season is to do whatever the coaches and the organization needs me to do to get the win every week.
Q: Did you have a growing up that you idolized, and if so who was it?
A: Yes I respect Trent Williams, Jason Peters, and the Pouncey twins
Q: What is the best part about being an NFL player?
A: The best part about playing in the NFL is living my childhood dream out and also just being able to be around and grow with my team and accomplish the world with my teammates.
Q: What do you think you will want to do after football?
A: After football I’m still trying to figure out now. I would love to do something with helping people get to where they want to get like the NFL and College.
Q: What’s one motto/quote you live by?
A: Control what I can control.
Q: How important are player/coach relationships during the season or the off-season?
A: Coaches and players should have a great relationship to communicate to be on the same page at all times.
The Bills drafted Dawkins with the 63rd overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. Dawkins, a 4 year starter at Temple University, was ranked the second best guard in the draft by Sports Illustrated, was ranked the third best guard by ESPN, the third best interior offensive lineman by NFL analyst Mike Mayock. Dawkins was named a First Team All-American Athletic Conference selection after his senior year. He started 41 of 44 games at Temple. Dawkins was considered one of the best OT’s in this year’s class behind Cam Robinson, Garett Bolles, Ryan Ramcyzk, and others.
