The Indianapolis Colts are off to yet another poor season. Their record is currently is 3-7 and are 1-2 in their division, and are currently sitting in 4th place in the AFC South. A majority of Colts fans want HC Chuck Pagano fired immediately after the season ends & wanted him out when Indianapolis fired Ryan Grigson last off-season. Others have all the trust in the world in Pagano as their HC. So I bring up this question. Should Indianapolis fire Chuck Pagano?

Pagano is 90-52 in 6 years as the Colts HC and has been over .500 every year with Indianapolis. Pagano has lead the Colts to the playoffs three times (2012, 2013, 2014) and lead them to the divisional championship twice (2013, 2014) in his career with Indianapolis. Indianapolis came in 1st place in their division in 2013 and 2014 under Pagano.

Pagano showed signs of promise during his first three seasons with the team, but the organization took a step back the following three seasons with Pagano. Part of it is do to injuries, like their franchise QB Andrew Luck who played injured all of last year and will miss all of this season. But it’s also do to the poor play calling and lack of leadership by Pagano as well.

“We’ve dug ourselves a nice little hole,” Pagano said. “We have the opportunity to write whatever we want to write. We’ve written seven chapters of this book and we’ve got nine chapters left. It will be the tale of the tape. You’ve got a bunch of guys who love to play, love to win and are passionate about it and are grateful for it. And because you have that opportunity, and you don’t know how long you’re going to get to do this, you come to work and you prepare. … That’s what professionals do.”

Owner Jim Irsay has never fired a HC in the middle of the season, but it’s never too late to change that. Especially after not committing to him past this season, regardless of the coach not being under contract past the 2019 season. Irsay may be reserved about whether or not to fire Pagano after giving him a 4 year extension in January of last year.
